How many of you have put down “eat healthfully” as your new year’s resolution for the seventh time?
We must confess that we haven’t, but we do enjoy eating at the following places that serve wholesome meals with lots of veggies.
The coffee is great, but the food is going to blow your mind at this cute neighbourhood corner café that thrives on community spirit. Chef Ray Henry’s Tiny Kitchen, staffed by young culinarians, serves elevated café fare such as breakfasts, goodness bowls, sandwiches, and weekly features, using locally-sourced ingredients.
An eco-chic-meets-rustic trendy interior makes EnVie stand out as an upscale venue to enjoy expertly crafted vegan foods in Halifax. The menu recreates classics like mac and cheese, burgers, pulled pork tacos, cheese and charcuterie boards plus even bacon and eggs using entirely plant-based sources.
The second full-service location for Heartwood, this vegetarian resto offers filling and comforting meat-free options in a clean, modern setting. Located on the street level of a fancy new condo building, Heartwood is known for protein-packed veggie burgers, pizzas, and signature bowls. Try the Heartwood Bowl with spicy peanut sauce.
A sandwich counter that serves up fresh, delicious South Asian inspired dishes. Aside from the stellar banh mi sandwiches, there are a variety of flavourful options like noodle bowls, fusion tacos, pho-rritos and bubble tea. Plenty of plant-based options make this a go-to lunch stop.
An awesome selection of comforting dishes that are somehow appropriate to eat any time of the day, Robie Street Station takes the all-day breakfast concept up a few needed notches. If you love inventive ways to eat eggs, this is your jam. This bright neighbourhood joint overlooks the Commons.
Wild Leek food and juice bar has a really great selection of gluten-free items, in addition to its vegan fare. Wash your healthy meal down with a fresh pressed juice or smoothie. If you’re looking for something stronger, Wild Leek also has a spiked coffee and a vegan Caesar on the menu.
